About the Canadian Rational Investor I've worked in various parts of the brokerage business in both sales and operations for more than fifteen years and consider myself a 'student-of-the-market' for more than twenty. As a broker, I held licenses to trade stocks, bond, mutual funds, commodities and options on all of them. I figured I hit my professional 'peak' when I achieved the Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute (FCSI) designation in 2005. But I have always had a love/hate relationship with the brokerage business and decided to leave the business and 'go-out-on-my-own' in 2007. I got my formal start in technical analysis but believe most of the valuable tools I've have learned over the years are based more on common sense then any 'magic-wand' trading tool. Having said that, there are some really nifty little tools I have learned to greatly help investing performance. Both technical and fundamental, these are my gift to you. enjoy the journey, learn and prosper...
About Rational Analysis So what is rational investing, you ask? A relatively new term in the investing universe, rational investing attempts to combine the strengths of both fundamental and technical analysis to try and find investments with high upside potential & relatively low risk.
According to Wikipedia (link) "...many technical analysts reach outside pure technical analysis, combining other market forecast methods with their technical work. One advocate for this approach is John Bollinger, who coined the term rational analysis in the middle 1980s for the intersection of technical analysis and fundamental analysis...."
Many call themselves rational analysts but only those who combine both fundamental AND technical work can truly claim to be. |

The Australian Dollar - May, 2009 |
|
Is there any proxy for this growth [In Asia] where we can have some faith in the free market coupled with a reliable legal system? There is one market that because of its commodity asset base and a solid free market platform makes it ideal, Australia. Just as the suppliers of parts fueled the Dot.com boom, so too will Australia’s natural resources be in high demand as China continues its economic expansion. |
